7kPrices are indicative, shown in AUD and refreshed from provider APIs where available. Always confirm the final price on the provider's site - it is the price that applies. We may earn a commission if you buy through our links, which never changes what you pay. Partners are listed before providers who pay us nothing, as our terms set out; sorting by price ignores all of that and orders on the number alone. How we make money.

A row that reads Get a quote is priced per destination and per traveller rather than sold at a set premium, so its price and its cover limits are shown on the insurer's own quote for Vietnam instead of here. Whichever row you follow, the Product Disclosure Statement for the policy you buy is the document that decides a claim - not this table.
Hepatitis A and typhoid commonly recommended. Rabies and Japanese encephalitis for longer or rural stays.
Bring what you need - pharmacy standards vary and counterfeit medication is a known problem.

Policies are compared on the numbers that decide real claims: overseas medical cover, cancellation cover and excess, with the pricing basis stated under every table. Jamie has personally taken out policies with insurers recommended on this site. Premiums shown are indicative for the stated traveller and trip; the PDS for the specific policy is the binding document and the reason every page says to read it. Read the full editorial policy.
No, not legally. Vietnam recognises the 1968 Vienna Convention International Driving Permit and Australia only issues the 1949 Geneva Convention version, so Australian IDPs aren't valid here. Riding anyway means no insurance cover if you crash - use Grab or a private driver instead.
We will send you the Vietnam guide as it grows - what to book before you go, which eSIM and travel card are worth it there, and what things actually cost in Australian dollars.
