Affiliate disclosure

The short version

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may be paid a commission by the provider. It never costs you more, and it never changes where a product appears in our comparisons.

Where the links are

Any link that takes you to a provider's site to buy something may be an affiliate link. These are marked with rel="sponsored" in the page code, which is how search engines are told about the relationship, and they open in a new tab.

We work with affiliate networks including Impact, CJ Affiliate and Commission Factory, as well as directly with providers who run their own partner programs.

What it doesn't change

Ranking. Comparison results are ordered by the criteria stated on each page — usually price, then a recommended default based on value and coverage. Commission rates are not one of the criteria.

Inclusion. We list providers we consider worth comparing, including ones that pay us nothing. Several travel money cards we recommend have no affiliate program at all.

What we write. If a product has a real drawback, we say so on the page. Our editorial policy sets out how we decide what to publish.

Paid placements

Separately from affiliate links, providers can pay for a sponsored placement. Those are labelled "Sponsored" or "Advertisement" wherever they appear. A sponsored placement never displaces an organic result or changes its ranking.

Why we do it this way

The alternative business models for a comparison site are worse. Charging travellers puts the information behind a paywall, and selling user data is something we won't do. Commission on completed purchases means we're paid when the site actually helps someone — which is the incentive we want.
