What Australian drivers need to know in Singapore
- Almost no visitor needs a car. The MRT, buses and taxis cover everything and cost a fraction of driving.
- Electronic Road Pricing tolls apply throughout the city and are billed to hire cars.
- Parking is expensive and scarce.
- Traffic fines are severe and strictly enforced.
Your licence is enough, but the vehicle class still matters. Australian policies exclude claims from driving without a valid licence for that vehicle. Check your policy covers the vehicle you actually intend to hire.
